What is Ayurveda

Known as the oldest medical system of the world, this 5000 year old Science called Ayurveda is the 'Science of Life'. Ayurveda originated in India, where it is still widely practiced alongside Western medicine. The knowledge of Ayurveda stems from the rich Vedic tradition, and Ayurveda is believed to have been derived from the Gods. Ayurveda is not simply a Science, but a way of righteous living. It's fundamental principles help us achieve harmony with the cosmos, from which we are conceived.

How does Ayurveda work?

Ayurveda is based primarily on the principle of balance and harmony. We are thought to be creatures of the universe, and so what is present in the outer world, is the same within the human existence. We look to nature to restore harmony within ourselves, using the intricate, yet simple concepts of Mahabhutas (Elements), Doshas (Bio-Energies) and their relationship with our Dhatus (Tissues). After identifying the causative factors behind our illnesses, we treat the body appropriately with herbs, minerals and metals, that either increase or decrease the imbalanced bio-energies of the body based on their own unique mahabhautik makeup, thus restoring balance. Ayurveda also incorporates healing on a soul level, by helping a person identify repetitive karmic patterns and offering effective non-invasive treatments such as Meditation, Yoga, Pranayama etc.

How can I benefit from Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic treatment is very personalized to your particular genetic constitution and needs in that moment. Treatment protocols that may work for a family member, may not necessarily work for you even though you may share a close connection. We take a look at the factors around your illness, how you are mentally and physically equipped to handle certain treatments, and then we personalize the Ayurvedic herbs, supplements, cleansing procedures, yogic practices and breathing exercises etc, to your specific needs. No two people are seen as the same in the practice of Ayurvedic medicine. At the end of a consultation (or several, depending on your needs), you will benefit by understanding who you really are, the causes for your health concerns, and how to change your diet and lifestyle, to not only treat the illness, but to ensure that it does not come back. In the soul treatments we offer, you will observe the negative past life baggage you've carried into this life, and how to unload and free yourself from repetitive negative karma.

Ayurveda will help you live a healthier, more conscious and fulfilling life, once you understand who you are at the core of your existence.
